Gong cai is a special type of lettuce from China, whose leaves are removed and then the stems are dried in the sun (after making some cuts on the stems). To eat them they have to be moistened again in water. It was previously a rare vegetable eaten mainly at the imperial court, but today it is much more common. The flavor is not very pronounced but is reminiscent of a type of spinach. The structure is very crunchy, similar to celery.
Gongcai in this package is already pickled, you can use it to prepare a side dish o you can use it for hot pot!
