Tteokguk is a traditional Korean dish consisting of sliced rice cakes in a savory broth. It's commonly eaten during the new year for good luck and prosperity. The rice cakes, called garaetteok, are made from glutinous rice flour and cooked in a broth made from beef, chicken, or fish. Tteokguk is garnished with eggs, green onions, and gim (Korean seaweed), and sometimes served with mandu (Korean dumplings). Enjoy this delicious and filling soup on a chilly winter day.
